Woodlands

When asking residents of Woodbine and Woodlands what they like most about where they live they will answer the proximity to schools and parks along with easy access to the new Ring Road. Woodlands borders onto Fish Creek Provincial Park which is known for its scenic pathways and is a nature enthusiasts dream.  Children often frequent the park for school field trips and the park bustles with activity on the weekends with families getting together for a bike ride or a picnic.  Woodlands shares a Community Association with Woodbine. The Woodcreek Community Association offers endless opportunities to get out and enjoy all that the community has to offer including 2 outdoor rinks, 3 proposed cross country ski locations, pickleball courts and various indoor options for all ages in the Community Center. Woodcreek aims to get residents out for various events throughout the year including spaghetti nights, pub nights and a community clean up. 

Although the LRT station is not directly in Woodlands, residents can take a bus to the Anderson LRT Station and  the new BRT can get residents downtown and to Mount Royal University quickly. Bus # 778 runs to the designated High School in Kelvin Grove. With the completion of the SW Ring Road access is much easier and a trip to Costco in the new Taza Development is a breeze.  Woodlands residents can access the Ring Road easily via Anderson Trail. 

Parents and children will value the proximity to primary schools and childcare. Woodland's designated Elementary School is Woodlands Elementary School which is located on  Woodgreen Drive. John Ware is the designated Junior High School located in Palliser and High School students from the community attend Henry Wise Wood in Kelvin Grove. There is also St. Jude's Catholic School located on Woodbine Blvd. for children in Grades K-12.

Woodlands has a strip mall located on Woodpark Blvd. with a few services including a nail salon. convenience store and liquor store. For more services residents can go to neighboring Woodbine for groceries or head over to MacLeod Trail for endless possibilities. The new Taza Development on the Tsuut'ina Reserve is home to a new Costco and construction has commenced for various other shops and services. 

There are approximately 6180 people living in Woodlands with about 74% of the population own their home while 26% are renters. Roughly 64% of the dwellings are detached single family homes, while 6% are attached, 20% are row houses. and the remainder are apartments.
